what is the hardest cichlid to keep in your experience?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
blue rams are a harder cichlid to keep...keyholes on the other hand are very easy in case anyone was wondering:nilly:

havent really had any die on me yet (knock on wood) so....ive heard beani and black nasties are prone to bloat so they might be hard
I agree b/c of the bloat thing when smaller. You can always buy a large one though, :D

Every cichlid is easy to keep if it is fed right, regular big enaugh water changes, good filteration, large enaugh tank, and tankmates that work.

I can't keep swordtails alive, for whatever reason

As far as the hardest cichlid, I'd vote for filter feeders like chaetobranchopsis. I kept three alive for almost two years, even showed the male of the pair that developed... Then they started fading away...I think mAlnutrition even though they ate.

That said, I want more!

are you saying you have honestly never lost a cichlid in your entire aquarium experience? kudos to you bro.

mine would have to be rams, for no apparent reason i can find. my discus tank is a cinch, but those guys are just terrible for me.
