For me, Hemichromis frempongis have kicked my butt, twice. I bought 2 groups of young ones before. Once in a 75, with a group of 6. They killed their way down to two, the female killed the male in a mating fight. Then she later comitted suicide. Then later I got 6 more in a 150, got one that was psycho and killed the rest. Then he got murdered, probably by my sagittae, he is also a known killer. They are hardy fish, but prone to violence. Despite my bad luck, I'd love to try them again.

...they are cichlids but to answer the OP's question I'd have to say juvie Black Nasties!

Yep Peacock Bass are indeed cichlids. They are VERY cichlid! I pity the fool that doesn't think they're cichlids :mr-t:

lol. its funny, coz when i had to move my grow outs, i had them in a bucket and trying to save time i tipped the water in my toilet, and the silly thing jumped out and landed inside the bowl,:irked: oh crap... should i try to fish him out or just flush him down:confused:, i love those guys soo much so i decided to run to the kitchen, grab a freezer bag, wrapped my hand in it and spent the next 5 mins trying to get him out. i succeded in the end, and the poor sod grew to be the biggest out of the lot:WHOA: must be because all of the chemicals and nutrients in there ay?:ROFL:

Toss up between P. Altum and blue rams, man if your water chem changes just an itty bitty bitty bit...they all start acting like you poured Dawn soap in their tank.

EBJDs
they seem to go through phases where their colors are real vibrant, and then fade, and their bodies look morphologically strange
had 3, down to 1
its too bad, they are beautiful fish, but im beginning to think their price is not worth the risk of genetic maladies being amplified during the breeding process
inbreeding--> big problems
