As much as I don't like resurrecting old threads, I didn't want to open a new one for the same topic.

Just wondering, aside from senegals and ropefish, what other polypterus do you think are the least aggressive that won't outgrow a 150 gallon? I have an Oscar, BGK and 5 SDs in it. I'm leaning towards a Delhezi but I would love to hear others' inputs. :)

Most any of the upper jaw species could go in a 150 no problem. I have about 12 bichirs each a different species and the only ones that are growing at a rate and size to outgrow the 180 that they're in are the ansorgi ornate and endli. I'm expecting a pbb soon and expect that and a Congicus would also be too big but any other species would be okay IMO

Thanks!

Aggression-wise, are Delhezis okay? I have a school of SDs and the smallest one is probably around 3". I also have a 3" BGK but there's a divider till he grows to at least 5-6".

A del would be fine. My del is by far my most active bichir. Keeping it with that small of a bgk is risky unless your certain the divider is impenetrable.
