I want to get a large good-looking cichlid for my ~monster community tank, but it seems like my best bet is to get a cichlid that is not very aggressive. So, what's your favorite BIG cichlid that does NOT have an axe-murderer's personality? Pics?

What size is the tank and what's in it?

Yeah what he said.

Wild Caught oscar if your community is 125+. I say wild caught because you get much nicer colors and patterns then fish factory oscars you see in 99% of the stores. Even some oscar haters like WC one's. Unless you get a mental one most oscars are not aggressive in a properly sized tank.

I've never owned any but I've heard uaru and chocolate cichlids are peacefull for their size.

If you are just starting the tank get as many of the fish you want at the same time and size as you can so they growup together. But anytime you put large fish together it may not work. Dithers can help too.

.

that would be my answer, word for word . . .

so, how big is the "monster" tank? :grinno:

Uaru, chocolate, severum.

For the CA's I've heard both pearsei and bocourti are pretty mellow, and both would make nice centerpiece type fish, but they get BIG.

Yeah, my vote goes to chocolates for SA, and Bocourti or Pearsei for CA.

Choclotes. they are large enough to handel themselves but mild manerd enough to be kept with angels. At least in my experience.

+1 on the chocolate. I have one that is confident enough to not get bullied by other more aggressive fish in my tank yet never starts anything. Also, a LFS near me has a huge male chocolate in their display tank with discus with no aggression issues at all.
