What is the most colorful or beautiful large freshwater fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fire eels will generally keep their head out of the cave so they can see whats going on. But I agree with above.. only get one if she will touch worms, that is the only thing mine will eat.

Get her a personable fish, one that will relate her with food that way it gets excited when she comes in the room. This should keep her interested in the hobby.

Ok. Have to change things up a bit. I have a new tank coming. 100 Gal. approximately 5'x2'x2'. I know the length is right width and height may be slightly more. First off my O's are going in their. I told my wife I wanted her to pick something out to go in the tank with the O's. They are not to much of bullies. I am separating them from the terror who picks on everybody. So far she said she liked the rope fish and the black ghost knifefish. A lot of the other fish she picked I thought would be too small for the O's once they get full size. Maybe you can help me narrow down the search a bit Here are some possibilities that she liked:
Rope fish
Black Ghost Knifefish
Blue dolphin cichlid
Sailfin Molly
Fire Eel
Clown Loach
What do you think the smallest length a fish could be to live safely with an O? One quarter their size, one half their size etc. I have not put anything with them but equal size fish such as the terror and the severum. All Juvies right now at probably 3 to 4 inches.

Thanks all.

definitely the loaches, get a school, they're awesome...
However im not certain that the black ghost would do well? Do you know how big it was? they're kinda delicate until they get larger.

These are a few bigger fish that are just stunning.

I like mine. But she does not get along with others.

This picture is amazing to me, the way you can see the window in the background, but no part of the tank, its almost like the fish is floating in the air.
