What is the most difficult fish to keep alive?

Tiny EBJD and any GT. Any inbred hillbilly fish like guppies and angelfish that can easily be of poor genetic history. But I've had pretty great fortune with feeder guppies after deworming them.

Oddly, around here, male bettas. Dropsy just keeps happening.

Why did you find Gt's so difficult?

Hairy Puffers for me! I love them and had 3 in 5 years but never been able to keep them beyond 2 years... they all just die for no obvious reason. I have tried everything...species tanks, big comm tanks (live in food mainly), high water flow, big air stones, varied diet, lots of live food... and still they die!! The latest was today when the little bastard has starved himself to death...stupid fish!! So I have now told the misses if I ever even suggest another one...slap me... hard... in the face.

For me it's cardinal tetras. I've gone through 3 batches of 10 each. I have 3 survivors.

stingrays are very tough to keep though they really arent meant to be kept in captivity

A lot of wild caught plecos are tough. They come loaded with parasites and are hard to get to eat. Same for small clown loaches. Very susceptible to ich and once again, lots of parasites. Tetras can be really delicate. I've lost a few. I usually buy 1-2 more than what i intend to keep because i know they usually kickoff.

Tigs.....hands down for me.They do really well for a few months and then just stop eating and wither away.I probably won't be getting any more of them.

no, but seriously.....how in 7 pages did no one say Carcharodon carcharias? Possibly the only fish in the world that no one has been able to keep alive in captivity

Bc obviously we were refering to fish tanks......and u couldnt just say great white? Lol

They have been kept in captivity but not long....i believe 6 months might habe been the longest.
