what is the most efficient and quietest sump filtration set up to run

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just put it all on the outside of the house, so now I don’t have to listen to the filtration & the air pump. Of course this won’t work if you live where it snows.

My setup:

Lateral panel, Jebao DCP 6000M, K1 - (35 litters) (static), 30 ppi foam (4 litters) to keep K1, and some k1 on top; weir. Short piping with long radius elbows and K1 and the same level of water gives excellent efficiency: 14 W for real 4000 l/h (1060 gal/h) (measured with a flowmeter). Enough for 1000l (270 gallons) tank as filtration and circulation (for 70 mbunas). The pump works at 30% power and is almost silent at this setting. No drains, valves, regulations, overflows, leaks, wasted space and etc. No maintenance for months and crystal clear water. At first K1 was fluidising, but there was some noise so I added more:)
