May be it's just for looks, because somebody wants their tank to look like a shower(which it does).

each their own... most likely cheap way to put a black ground and bottom that is easier to clean...

may have looked real nice in a tile room. tied the tank into the room. have you tried to email them about it?

Alot of people use tile for backgrounds or substrates.. great earthy look and still the functionality of bare-bottom..

although that tile is very public poolish the idea is actually a great one. One of my tanks has a dark slate rock bottom which allows it to function like a BB while still looking appealing IMO

i saw that too, thought it was kinda neat looking actually, but wasnt floored about the asking price.
