What is the scientific name of this Fish?

when they hit the market they were a big thing, having them "acclimated" to fw. However, being a saltwater fish, from the people I know that had them, they didn't last much past 3-4 years.

fugupuff still has his in FW.. but you're right most of the others have died for some reason or another.

Even trying to find a baby SW one is difficult.. I tried...

As they age they require a more saline environment, finally needing SW as adults, at which time they are more than 5' long and no longer colorful. They can reach over 9' in length and weigh more than 1000 lbs

I just saw they had a smaller grouper in petco... duno what kind tho it was like purple... saltwater... Do they get as big?
