what is this on the head of the paroon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not liquid and electro !! i took a sample of water to some friend in a fish store and he do it for me !!
now there is now help for me the fish is about to die :)

Dear friend, you can brush me off all you like or, even better, ignore my posts and advice completely just as you have done so far to a plethora of everyone else's posts (in this thread and others) who try to tell you how to properly diagnose and attack tank and fish problems.

That's not a problem for me and other MFK-ers. It may be, however, a big problem for you. Sadly, I believe, as I stated above, until and unless you get the liquid kit, show us that you can use it right, and provide the measurements, you will continue receiving little or no help here. Not because we are unwilling to help, but because you appear unwilling to be helped.

If you cannot afford the test kit, as you stated before (but plan to build a large tank for your fish in your garage?), then, sadly and unwillingly, I have to agree with Blkpiranha (post #6 in your sister thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?554544-HEEELP-the-fish-is-dieing) - most certainly keeping such serious fishes will not be fruitful for you, I am afraid.

As I mentioned, you can try Erythromycin - a well-known, broad-spectrum antibiotic similar to the action of penicillin.

what you want me to do there is no test kit here i search all the fish stores all the answers were NO .. one fish store ask me for a sample of water to test it for me and i gave you the results !!!!!!

every day a new thing appear on the fish !! i think the skin is getting off !! dunno why !!

no this Erythromycin whil help for ammonia or for picteria ?

Those results are not good enough without knowing precisely what test kit was used and whether it was used correctly.

AND the results have to come from you, not some other guy. You have the fish. You have the problems. You are asking for help here. You have to learn the hobby, more so now than ever because your fish are in mortal danger. You took the responsibility for them living beings when you bought them.

1. Have you searched on-line stores in Jordan?

2. Have you searched on-line stores in other countries? I sent you a link to the USA store but the API MasterKit is sold all over Europe and Asia too as well as other reputable liquid test kits. I am sure you could order them from other countries too if need be. It's a simple, everyday tool pretty much all fish keepers and hobbyists use daily and weekly.

It should not be expensive for you as it is probably 1/10th or 1/20th of your monthly electric bill to run that tank and all its pumps, plus fish food, plus water conditioners, plus water, plus all other maintenance the tank and its equipment needs, etc.

Antibiotic means it fights bacteria.

If you do worry about the ammonia, I'd strongly recommend adding something like Ammo-Lock to the tank water. It detoxifies ammonia. If it is the ammonia burn, as others fear, you should see results very soon with Ammo-Lock. That's what it is for instance:

Maybe its because the test they gave you was wrong and that 45 ppm of nitrate is way too high to facilitate healing anyway... it seems to me that youre looking for a miracle cure that doesnt exist, theres no quick fix to this other than changing lots of water and buying a test kit.

I would do a very large water change of 80%+ and make sure you use dechlorinator.
Yep, every day or better yet twice a day. We assume you know how to condition your water.

Jreeper, if you absolutely cannot order and receive the test kit in question, then give me your address and I will buy it and send it over to you, ok? It's a small box 17x13x13 cm. The test kit is ~$20. IDK about shipping it to Jordan but should not be over $10, I imagine. I do not need you to repay me.

But... is shipping reliable in your area? I am from Belarus and parcels very often do not make it to the addressee there - some are checked by the government agencies, some are probably stolen in hopes there is something of value in them because they are from the "miraculously rich" country of the USA and probably contain dollar bills or something that for sure can be sold at a local flee market. Sarcasm.

So, what I am saying, as a last resort and only if there is a reliable way for you to obtain that parcel, I will gladly send you the test kit. My pleasure.

thx man i really appreciate that !! but the problem that you think jordan is a first world country !! its not its small and its from 3th world countrys
we don't have big fish stores or any thing like that we don't have online sites to order from them and i'm sure most of usa company doesn't ship anything to jordan !! so its really a complex situation !! i just need a fast treatment to the fish then i will sold them cuz i want them a better life !! i shoud've not bought them in the first place

now will the Epsom salt with water changeing work or not ??!
and if its not work should i do a 80% water change ?? now that will not destroy the cycling ??

Epsom salt isnt for this, for this you want aquarium salt and the 80% change.

Have you checked with the USA on-line vendors? One thing is assuming, completely another is knowing. If not, I'd try any neighboring country or Europe.

We.... well, I... don't know what to do for your fish because the cause is uncertain. If we assume the test results from your LFS are true, the only thing to do is to lower nitrates then and that is done by ~2-3 times more frequent water changes.

It is of course could be a disease, perhaps, that 10" clarias, that had been recently introduced to your tank and got eaten, had some contagious disease. But most usually, there is another factor involved, which weakens fish's immune system. And that factor is stress, which can be caused by many things. Try the erythro, if you can find it. It's a common med for fish and other pets.

I doubt it but can it be a heater burn?

Epson salt, magnesium sulfate, is for bloat. If you want to try salt, use the ordinary table salt, sodium chloride. I use the one sold for water softeners - 40 lbs for $5.

Finally, how can a water change destroy the cycling??? Only if one does not treat the water (like the municipal water carrying chlorine or chloramine), then yes ... but conditioning water is the most basic of fish-keeping practices.
