I had reexamined the patterns in photos and information and noticed I got the labels wrong so definitely Botia kubotai. Sorry about this, Ewurm. I know it was pretty embarassing to mislabel the loaches:( Oh well...Things sometimes go wrong.:(

I agree, Botia kubotai, I have four in my 100 gal tank for nine mouths now and very slow growers, they've only grown about half an inch in the time I've had them.

Has anyone watched them spinning? Mine will occasionally pair up and spin "fight" all over the tank, and they kept it up for 30 minutes or more!

I'm going with Kubotai for the win. He looks like he has the beginning of two rows of spots.

Looks like an angelicous botia (Botia angelicus) they are kind of mean as they get bigger, only about a 3-4 inch fish but I have had some that chase other fish but nothing serious

Do you have pics of your Botia histrionica? It is Botia kubotai. The fish in question was still young last year. Patterns can vary as they age but if you take a look at the patterns and it is color intensity, it is clearly Botia kubotai.

Here's a good article about the patterns of Boita kubotai varying as it ages.;)

The bar patterns of Botia histrionica are too far from each other compared to the fish in question.

Nice little loach that needs some friends.
