Do you see the Blue Gills? Well well the the hay, Blue Gills.
I was told they were aggressive, my cichlids tore them UP

no i am wrong it is a green sunfish .My bad

Who the **** are these guys that they keep finding this thread?

Anyway... I think the appropriate response to the original poster is to inform him of the laws he broke, which he clearly didn't know about beforehand, in a calm and positive way. If you want to drive to his house and kick his dog over it, that's on you. But most of us seem to see that while what he did was wrong, raging over it isn't going to help him understand why it was wrong.

I think Fisher is going a little overboard with his "tone" but, it happens when emotion instead of rational thought takes over. There was no harm done and now the OP knows the law.

Would it make a difference had the OP taken teh sunfish home and filleted them, then regurgitated them back into teh water from which they came? Sounds like something Kalifornia would make illegal.

i think im gonna stay away from native species after all this hahaha

yep green sunfish catch a bunch of those here in illinois

How come it's illegal to remove an invasive species? Makes no sense to me...

It's to prevent introduction of species into new bodies of water and to prevent the introduction of aquarium diseases into the wild. Lets face it a lot of people catch a bass for their tank. They think "it's still small and I will re-release it into the pond or lake where they caught it. They could unknowingly introduce pathogens and such into that body of water.
