I get my dry fertilizers from these 3 online stores

http://www.bobstropicalplants.com/shop/en/6-fertilizers

http://greenleafaquariums.com/aquarium-fertilizer.html

Really the only difference between them are the prices, I tend to bounce around the 3 sites to find the cheaper price for whatever fertilizer I'm seeking. As for T8 bulbs I always went to my local HomeDepot for them because you can get double packs of 6500k bulbs for like $8. I would suggest maybe a couple DIY co2 setups would work, but the bad thing about DIY co2 is having to make a new batch of it every month which was the main reason I prefer to go with a co2 injection system.

DIY using yeast mixture won't be big enough for a 125g set up. Will not be worth it and a lot more work. The max size for most DIY yeast set ups is 55 to 60ish gallons and really have good/decent results.

There are other places and people to get fertilizers from that are less with the same quality as you listed. ;)

Aquaticfan: you're a true help, thank you. It's kinda funny actually because I was debating those light systems, but I read bad reviews of previous systems from that company. I still think for the price that they are very reasonable and with your second opinion, I will go for them. Also, thank you for the dosing instructions. I will take not. How big of water changes are you doing at a time?
I have some of those lights currently in service no issues more then a year. I know others using them no issues.

The bad reviews most people read are from the earlier models of those lights. The stuff you buy now has been improved upon.

My water changes are between 50 to 70% weekly for a good reset of the system. Been doing my planted tanks that way for some time.

If you don't want to do CO2 then control the factors you can. Keep hoid nutrients and control the light intensity out put and duration.

I have been on 12-hour photoperiods. Is that way too long?

Not necessarily. It depends on intensity as well. Some of it will be trial and error. If your seeing algae then reduce the photo period back down to about 8 to 9 hours. I've got some planted tanks that run lights for 12 hours and no algae but lower light tanks. Then my higher light tanks that run pressurized co2 run for 10 hours and my medium light no co2 set ups run for about 8 hours. I use the plants and algae as my guide. I know I have balance of nutrients with EI dosing. If I see algae start to form I make the adjustment needed with light and clean up the algae. Its about balance.

I bought those lights from Aquatrader just last year... and they were dead within a year- Buyer beware.

Just to clarify this post. Hbengston is posting on many threads bashing aqua traders. He/she claims to have purchased the t5 fixtures quoted in this thread only to have them go out in a year. But in my led thread he/she claims to have purchased led fixtures from aqua traders only to have them go out in a year.
So take this with a grain of salt I guess. If you hate aqua traders that's fine, but don't start condemning all the products they sell..
