Don't have a specific favourite species, but my favourite fish are ones with personality, ones that "recognise" you - interaction is the key for me. My Cons and my platys follow me around their tanks and do the waggy tail thing - always wanting fed!
 
My favorite fish that I currently keep is my Oscars. Second would be my black convicts. So much personality in those guys.

6º- p bass
7º- flower horn
8º rtc
9º tigrinus shovel cat
10º-dovii

Bichirs! i love them cuz theyre what made me get back into the hobby! i love me ornate (the one in my avatar). next is probably dats, then aros. but bichirs r fur sure coolest
 
I am getting bored. i am thinking of selling off the tanks and keeping one around for electric catfish and bichers. I can't afford large tanks or fish. My cichlids are just going through the same thing every day, and i can't add anything, my 10" dragon gobies look cool, but they don't do anything, they are just like a decoration that a 45 gallons to themselves. the convict fry in the ten gal. are fun to wach grow and interact, and it is interesting to see there behavoir with the small oddball melanochromis hybrid thay are growing up with, but they can't last in a 10 gal for much longer. i think i'll be taking a break soon:(
