What is your most expensive fish you have now?

My Fahaka... which isn't very expensive to buy... just to feed :nilly::nilly::nilly:

Aquarium Co-Op cites a food figure of 10 bucks a day for large species of puffer, so assuming you're paying around that much, Mufasa is $3650/year to feed.

Expensive indeed! But well justified for such a fish :)

I don't own that many fish...and of those I do own, the most costly would be my Apurensis Jelly Cat, which I believe set me back $95 a year ago, at a length of about 6 inches. It was also one of the largest fish I have ever purchased, as I usually buy only small ones so that I can grow them up myself. Sometimes (usually) buying small saves some cash, but the apurensis were all the same price, and I would have taken an even smaller one for the same price if one had been available.

Back when I was into marines, I spent considerably more several times...and that was 30 years ago, when Canadian money was not quite as worthless as it is today! :) I think that the Harlequin Tuskfish I purchased, at (I believe) a cost of $120C in the 1980's, would have been my most expensive fish ever.

If I spend a lot on a fish, it's because I really, really want that fish...and so I buy it despite the price. It seems nowadays some people buy expensive fish simply because they're expensive...as if that somehow makes them more desirable.

:iagree: 10000000%. Wanting a fish so much that said want overcomes a massive price is by far the best reason to pay that price.

By contrast, I just cannot understand the mentality of those people you describe. What's expensive is not automatically desirable to every single fishkeeper, so they might just end up spending very big bucks on something they don't like and ended up wasting their big bucks on.
