if not a rhom then it won't be a blue diamond. becuase blue diamond is a variant of serra. rhombeus.

It is a type of Serrasalmus compressus, undescribed.

Cruel, slow death. IMO this feeding was done more for the owners sick twisted enjoyment then for the nutrition of the P. :thumbsdow

Exactly, this is no different that sicking dogs on wounded animals. I've fed live foods before but I fed the correct size and I didn't wound the prey item.

usually all those blue diamond, gold diamond, purple diamond are all created by vendor as sales pitch (usually they are for rhombeus).
it's looks to be part of the compressus complex due to the barring spots but I wouldn't be so sure to say thats the adult form of your fish. it would be great if it does turn into one like that and I have see some compressus looks similar to that picture on opefe so its possible. and I hope you do aware that all the purple/blue you see on that fish is from the flash of the camera when the picture was taken, even the same fish won't look like that unless its under the right light at the right angle.
here's a list of pictures that your compressus could look like

should've kept it

nah. I have just as much fun reading about P's and looking at pics as i ever did keeping them. He was gorgeous and fun for a while but so painfully boring. These guys aren't for everyone. Especially not for people with limited tank space and even more limited attention spans like myself.
