What Just killed my Royal Plec??

Came home from work to find my 2.5" Royal Plec on the PFS dead.

Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5

Tank mates:
6 silver dollars 3"
6 Clown Loach 2"
1 Lima Shovelnose 6"
2 bala sharks 3"

Also I have lost 2 bristlenose plecs and 2 clown loach in the last month or so. All parameters are fine, tank has been up and running for over a year with no issues...

Did you make sure they were eating ..being the plecos are on the bottom sometimes food does not reach them when the aggressive fish gobble it up.. you did not say what condition the bodies were in when they passed.. make sure you always notice all fish eating.. did you feed sinking algae to the pleco.. also the shovelnose is known for some aggression.. also did you have hiding places for plecos.. also all perimeters are okay but did you quarenteen the new fish before you added them to the tank.. ??

Was there any wood in the tank for the royal to feed on ?? Royals are wood eaters you know...

It is debatable if they actually "need" wood, but at that size it could quite likely be starvation if it had to try compete with clown loaches and a shovelnose for food. How long had you had it for?

I got them all at the same time about 6 weeks ago from the same place

been feeding them cucumber, never actually seen him eat though apart from the wood that is in there.
