What Just killed my Royal Plec??

you really have to pay attention..especially to royals.. they are somewhat delicate and need a good start to get some growth on them.. so if you get another.. give him more then cucumber ...they need protein and veggie matter.. if the others in the tank are over powering.. you may have to keep him in his own tank until he prospers .. good luck..
 
what would be another decent plec to try then? don't want any common plecs. Or should I just get a bigger Royal Plec?

yes he does.. he should be chunky in the middle.. . sometimes the pet store does not feed well.. or they don't make sure they all get what they need to survive.. too many fish for them to take notice to each individual..... if their stomach's get shrunken because of lack of food sometimes they never recover and pick up their normal diet.. just make sure you watch.. once you have a new fish eating well and established you can relax some what.. but like i said royal are somewhat delicate in their early life..
 
The best food for them are special pleco tabs.. You'll just need to find a way to smuggle them past your other fish.

The best diet for them is a varied diet. Prepared foods, fresh veggies, driftwood ect...
