What Just killed my Royal Plec??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a bristlenose pleco and he goes after whatever is fed in the tank. In addition, I also add fish bite sized pieces of oranges, plus there is usually romaine lettuce on one veggie clip, and zucchini on another; he goes bonkers over the zucchini & oranges.

He has 3 different pieces of driftwood to hide under/nibble on, and I also put in algae wafers at night after the tank lights are out.

If your plecs are eating any of the cucumber (but really, give zucchini as a treat instead) then it would be blatantly obvious

I used to make sure at least once a week to grab a pile of greens, strap them to a piece of slate, put it up on a piece of driftwood and let him munch away. Typically, that along with pellets, pieces of earthworm, or shrimp, etc. Just watch and make sure it's eating.

Any time a question like this is asked 10 different people give 10 different awnsers. The truth is you probably didnt do a single thing wrong. Sometimes fish die for no apparent reason. I had a Royal for almost 2 years he was 8+ inches, and I got him from Rapps. One day I came home from college and he was dead, and the day before he was perfectly healthy. Every other fish in the tank was alive and well. It happens, and it sucks. Buy another one and chances are he will do just fine. Good luck.
