i have 1000gph on my 55g meaning i have a turnover rate of 18.18. This is keeping my 55g tank pretty pristine.

This is how it was set up when I got it and had been running for 30 years continuous at my next door neighbors. I am finishing an algae scrubber that will add 500 GPH for 6.5X turnover. This is a whole lot less than most MFK recommendations. What is the major downside ? As I plan for version 2 this spring, what is the minimum/maximum turnover you all would recommend?
I have 60+ Mbuna Cichlids 2"-3" and feed them NLSfishaddict401;3781762;3781762 said:It depends on the stock and the fish, and what you are feeding them. I have medium size fish that eat clean food and the 18.18turnover works great, my tank looks great even the day before i clean it! It makes it easier to clean as well.
