it will be fine in the 60gal for a long time. they are exteamly flexible and relitively inactive. i would actually not feel bad if my 16" sal was in a 55gal. hell i often have a hard time finding it in the 180gal amongst the amason swards..lol.. just don't risk it with the rtc if you really want to keep one long term. as i have said before most big cats don't have tankmates or friends just future snacks. also here is a pic of my sal at 2.5-3" and 8-10"

thanx, i regret having to sell it before. if you are cruious to see them all(i had three at that time) i have a vid on youtube of them. look at the gar section under my vertion of the "gar quiz". look at my gar vid in the end of that thread to link to my other vids to see the cats as they grew from 3" splooks in aug. into 24"+ monsters when i sold them in jan/feb.

Wow yeah i thought that they would get thick like the africans. Yeah i wish my TSN would grow a little faster but whatever. And yeah ill try to find that vid.

wow found the vids. Nice fish you got there and nice arow. I got a 12" one a few days ago and forgot to put the lid on the tank after having it for 2 days and found it dried up on the ground yesterday. So yeah im not getting those anymore. That was my second one and the first got destroyed by the Pacu. Just have no luck with those guys.

Either a South American lungfish (SAL) or an Australian lungfish (AUL) would work provided that its big enough to prevent it from becoming prey to the other fishes with an AUL being the safer of the two. Myself and a few others have had larger SALs decide to murder a few of their tankmates that were too big to be viewed as bite-size, but these incidents are rare but not unheard of; in my case, the SAL went back to being peaceful after that little incident, and I had no further problems with it.

Yeah i dont think its gonna be a AUL. Theres no way i could get one for 15 bucks. My boss is only buying them for 4 bucks so which one will be in that price rang a SAL or an WAL? He wont know until tomorrow when he calls and gets the specifics. I told him if they were the WALs dont even bother with getting them. But if its the SAL then prolly get 2 or 3. So we'll see what happens.

at that price it could be a wal or sal. add a zero or two to that price and your looking at an aul. don't just hex out a fish cause it is agressive. if i could control my a.d.d enough to have one fish per tank i would love a wal. my a.d.d. is just to much. it has happened in the past were a wal or more then one has been in a community, but the chances of that happening for you are slim to none. now just so you know i have not owned a wal...yet, but this is what the vast exp. with this fish has been.

Yeah i mean i could put it in its own tank. But i Have the 330 and the 60 that will always be up. A 55 that im trying to breed jack ds in. And another 55 that im trying to get rid of the jacks that are in there. I have a 90 that i want to do salt in with a 45 that i have being a sump or the 55. And a few 29s layin around. i just dont want hella tanks i have to take care of and i cant stand just one typr of fish in a tank so the breeding JDs prolly wont last. I really only want 3 tanks up.

if you really want a lung you'll figure something out. i can say i don't think i will ever not have a lung again they are badass!

well they are the SAL. They are only 3 inches long and about a quarte inch wide. My boss is gonna order 2 of them so well see what happens. I feel like ill have to put him in a breeder box utill he gains some weight.

With SALs that small make sure they are in a shallow tank so they can get to the surface to breathe. One of your 29g not filled all the way would probably be your best option till it gets bigger. Like suggested by others, I wouldn't risk the SAL with your cats and definitely add it to the tank after your cats go in the pond. Or if the pond isn't going to happen, just wait to buy the SAL cuz there is no point in buying it to just become a feeder.
