What kind of Monster Fish Keeper Are You?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't care for species setups, I like to mix them simply for the sake of mixing them. Tinfoil aside, I also got a ropefish, redtail labeo, gold gourami, spotted ctenopoma, and I might even get an african butterfly fish. And my cichlids come from both africa and america. Wouldn't have my tank set up any other way! Extremely fun to watch how fish who'd never see each other in the wild interact.

LOL ROcky is just this.No offense taken .. Honestly , ive kept a straight amazon setup : Stingrays, Arowana, Pbass and an eartheater on my biggest tank. Occasionaly i would mix it up and add a "ornamental" fish just to break the rules.

I have added a gold severum and a 7 -8 goldfish into the mix . To me, keeping monster fish is all about breaking the rules anyways and what better way to defy the rules by adding a predator and prey in the same tank, coexisting together ? :)

P.S : Another benefit of having the goldfish is that i dont have to net the leftover bits of shrimp that the aro and rays spew out while eating. The goldfish does a terrific job of picking out the shrimp bits from the water and the substrate.

I like area tanks, you know, all asians or all amazon, etc. you can still get some goofy combos. My pike cichlid looked "right" in with all the tiny tetras. You ever watch the show "FLOODED FOREST"? One segment showed a arapima swimming along and a whole school of little tets swimming along like pilotfish with a shark. I guess they are to small to bother with. Can't you picture your big aros or a.gigas surrounded by brilliant little flecks of gold and bright blue? At the time I was buying assorted tets for $5 for 12 so it wasn't that hard on my wallet even though a 1' PC does eat 1" tets.

I like to keep fish, anything Big! I like to keep catfish because of their power to swallow anything next to their own size I want a school of A. Gigas. i find out that i don't really care much about saltwater fishes because they don't do anything much compare to freshwater fishes. I watch more fish tv like it was a big screen, me sitting in my living room. I watch more fish than people who loves watching tv. My compositon of fish is just Big beautiful monster fishes like stergeons, RTC, arowanas and 3ft peakcok bass.
