I've found my oscar can be very picky about who goes in the tank with him. During Katrina, i was without power for three days and I lost all of my african cichlids that were in the tank with him. They didn't bother him and vice versa. I was a little nervous about adding anything new to the tank because he's so big now. So far I've added a jack dempsey, two convicts, a green terror, 2 black sharks, and some firemouths. All are alive and well and he doesn't seem to mind any of them. Whenever I add a new fish to the tank, he will knock over every ornament, driftwood, whatever to get to the new fish, then he stares them down for a moment, and then everything is ok. Weird.

He absolutely loves to give my pleco hell though. The sailfin pleco I have is 2 or 3 inches longer than he is but that doesn't stop him from harrassing him. Yesterday I saw my oscar spit or more like barf gravel all over my pleco. The tank is huge but he made sure he was directly over him ,lol.

Oops, I avoided the topic there. I keep big fish mostly. Nothing insanely huge yet.

There's something about cichlids I love, or maybe it's just big fish, I don't know. They have so much personality. When you come home from work and they greet you at the glass. Even when they are not hungry, lol, you know what i mean?

we-ell Kweeal! now we both share the love of beatiful monster fishes!

If any person says you're crazy, tell them, I just got a big imagination....

I like some "aliens" in my SA/CA community tank... An ID shark, a jumbo goldfish, a BIG blue 3-spot gouramy won't harm my fishes, though. :naughty:
But most of the tank inhabitants are SA, with some CA cichlids.

Best regards.

Daniel.

I've been thinking about adding a three spot g. for a while now. They go well with SA/CA?
