What kind of sand to buy?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
go with pool sand... get the heavier grade because there is less of a change a filter will pick it up and burn out

I got some frozen bags of "white sand" for $2.89 a piece per 40lbs. I think its real fine though, I might return it and look around some more.

hey you might wanna try t-grade color quartz, it is better then sand , it fine like sand but heavier. it will not get in the filter. as far as prewash i would wash it but you do not need to wash it. i rinsed it and it was clear when i did it it comes in 51 lb bag and one bag fills a 55 gal tank, it comes in various colors snf my cichlids love it

still waiting for the dust to settle.. Its been about 12 hours.

Howell (Livingston county) and home depot. Next time I'll spend the extra $ and get pool filter sand. I just didn't feel like going in the pool store while I was already at home depot.

I also wanted to get a pool filter sand the white one but when I went to a pool supply store the only color they got is the beige one I wonder what you call the white one and it's kinda hard to look for it.
