Automatic water changer, lights on timers, no substrate, low lighting, automatic feeder. You do all this, you have basically a maintainace free tank. You will still have to vac the bottom every couple weeks though....

Automatic water changer? Do tell! Upgrading to a 55 I didn't realize until now, how much water I have to dump in and out of the tank wouldn't be so bad if the buckets weren't so freakin' heavy!! I'm too stubborn to have anyone help me. It's only done right when I do it! :lol2:

i would recomend a betta if you dont want to maintain much. they are rather easy to take care of.

I agree, had my friend "help" once....Let's just say it took if I did it myself, it would take half the time...

Better get a "PYTHON" if you are still doing buckets...

Got one, but I have a standard kitchen faucet, is there an attachment I can buy to hook it up?
Yes there is...
It adapts the fine threads of the faucet to the hose bib threads of the Python venturi, (green thing)
Take the screen thing off the faucet and take it to Home Depot, tell them you need to go from that size to garden hose size...

Actually depends on the fish.. some fish have more waste than others. All of my tanks are bare bottom and some have literally no waste on the bottom.. it gets sucked up into the filter. Also even if you have alot of waste in a bare bottom tank you can make an overflow to suck up the waste on the bottom.

super high filtration, super low stocking, auto feeder, lights on timers etc.

Exactly what I was going to say. Over filtered, Understocked, Auto Fed, Timed Lights and you are pretty much set. The filters won't need cleaned nearly as often and aside from refilling the auto feeder and changing water now and then it's a cake walk.
