i would have to say oscar. as long as you keep the water quality good and know what your doing it would be fine in a 55. if you don't wanna do that i'd say a flowerhorn. the top out at around 12in but usually get smaller.

have you thought about a bichir? i love mine

I wouldn't do an oscar in a 55g. Even if you are doing water changes every other day and have lots of filtration you still can't keep up w/ the bioload of an oscar.
Plus they get 15'' and are active fish, and large active fish need room to swim around.

I would get a grammodes, texas, or JD for a single fish in a 55g.

Get a pair of dovii!! JK. I'd go with the GT.

:ROFL:TOTALLY gonna do a pair of dovii:ROFL: but yeah i decided against the tank im gonna wait until i get my 120 moved and set up and then if i find another good deal on 55, get it then so its not complete stress trying to arrange 2 tanks at once lol

PS if you are reading this post and are new to cichlids please DO NOT attempt dovii in 55g not even one will fit:nilly: just makin sure that is clear LMAO

How about a single severum? It does depend though on the width of your tank.

I would definetly go with a male green terror and a green terror pair in a 55. I have had a few over the years (lost most to eye injuries incidentally) and they were some of my favorites. Salvinis would be cool too.

yeah i decided against getting the tank as i think it would just be to much trying to get 2 tanks set up at the same time lol but yeah since im not doing the oscar i was thinking of putting in a male GT with my festae and planned carpinte pair in my 5ft 120g i think it would be a pretty awesome combo if i can get them to not all kill each other lol
