As some of you may know, I lost all my live plants due to a power outage during the holidays. So I don't want live plants anytime soon. Now I'm playing around with some layouts. I really like the bare hardscape, but it's too dark it seems. Need something to lighten it up. Should I stick with the fake plants, or just the hardscape?

Another option would be to ditch the plants and add moaaarr wood. All input welcomed :)

*First set of pics look a different color because I was using only a pink plant bulb*

I really like the way it is either way with your setup. I just prefer a splash of green in my tanks, even when fake. At first I always prefer a tank without the fake plants and a lot going on (prefer a minimalist looking tank in pictures), but end up adding fake plants to them to add color and provide cover.

i must say i do like the fake plants they are really nice ones look dam near real

Yeah same here. I felt like the tank was missing something with just the hardscape. Maybe if I add more wood...

Thanks, and they're not even from a fish store. They're all from Michael's, and they were 50% off. Walked out with two bags full for like $15. The stuff they sell at fish stores looks terrible.

Why do you even ask? You could put the plastic that holds six packs together and fake poop in there and still make it look good.
