Up until now I just have been using my brother's tackle box but I want to have one of my own and am wondering what lures should I get to start out and how much should I be looking to spend?

I'm more of a bass/pike fisher.

Thanks
Mike

umm you don't even begin to tell us what kinda fish you plan on going after....wisconson so i'm guessing pike and walleye or bass mabe....trout hell if i know

Sup mike,

It all depends of what kind of fishing you are doing. Are you fishing for small panfish (crappies, sunnies, perch) or for walleye, bass, pike? Obviously the lures and tackle will vary greatly depending on what kind of fish you want.

I'll throw out a few... Spinnerbaits are a good universal bait. They will work for pike and bass and most large predatory fish... You can buy small spinnerbaits for panfish, and extra large ones for big pike and muskies.

I really like to use Rapala's Rattlin Raps. They are very versatile and again work for a variety of fish. Pike, bass, walleyes, and muskies will hit raps. You can retrieve them quick for shallow water or you can let them sink to 10-12 feet for the bigger fish.

Just a few suggestions of mine. Everyone has their 'money' lures. You just have to try stuff out and see what you like.

:D

to cover some basics lures that work good for bass

jigs, spinner baits, buzz baits, lipless crank baits, crank baits, rubber baits and jerk baits to name a few. I could go on all night.

The trick about lure fishing is knowing when to switch up and learning what lures work better in certain situations.

GOOD LUCK

zara spooks and spinners are good for both bass and pike

I honestly swear by texas-rigged soft plastic worms. I always get hits on them. Also, I like to fish a spinnerbait if the weeds allow me to.

Iam guessing the primary bass up there is Smallmouth, and are the waters your fishing very rocky? Also pike like fast big baits such as spinner baits, and minnow style crankbaits like large x-raps, husky jerks and many other minnow style baits. The main smallmouth lure is Tubes if you lose one in the rocks you have plenty more but if you use jigs that would be a money drainer fast. For smallmouth use smaller spinner then you would use for largemouth. Topwaters for these are mainly the rapala skitter pop. For largemouth normmal size spinner baits, many soft plastics, and they will take many kinds of topwater. Both species of bass will take all kinds of crankbaits.
