I usually try to have the female bigger than the male. In my experience the male is usually the aggressor except for my SRT female which killed two mates.

Well, that might work well then.. I am just afraid of how he will react.. She is peaceful, and was from a community tank..
He however, ripped apart a plastic fish bag when I tried to float snails in his tank. He grabbed it, and shook like a dog!

So your not trying to make a flowerhorn from scratch or something similar? But just trying to add to FH? Good luck with which ever you do. Maybe I just missed something lol.
No. I am trying to breed FH from scratch, but I want to ensure that I have good fish for the breeding process. I am not just going to grab any of the 2 fish needed from petsmart and breed them.
I would however like to have a few spawns of Fh's with other fish to see if there is an interesting combination that could be the "next big thing".
I have plenty of room for the spawns and the fry.
