What makes the new trend fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i personally find Pbass ugly. sure some of them can be quite colourful but I don´t really see the appeal in such a fish. I´ve always wanted to have things that are "uncommon" or "underrated" I would hate to have a tank with festaes in it, or RTM. they are everywhere. I feel like they should make a Festae section on this forum just so I don´t have to skim through the latest 20 posts and find the 3 that arent festae related.

Same here.
It's funny most cichld enthusiast don't own pbass and most non-cichlid people do. They just want a large preditory fish. It seems the interest is more in the shock factor rather then the sp. themselves. I could be wrong, but that's what it seems like.

I agree completely. they might aswell just have a large collection of Erotic Art because they pay tonnes of money just for something that "shocks" people

Well that's the case with most MFK.. Personally I like my fish for other reasons, but most people get monster fish just because they're monsters..

Well I did the cichla thing for a while when I first got into fish and gave it up. I also did the big single 240 pair of dovii and gave that up. Honestly I LovE big fish but would muh rather see a good group of semi aggressive fish swimming around then a big male and female just sitting there. L never dedicate my tank to a single pair again....

I'm enjoying the community thing right now too, but sometimes I am tempted to get a single trimac or jag for my 150g just because it would be easier to manage.
Right now things are peaceful, but you never know when a hell will break loose w/ CA cichlids.

For the challenge ( raising a group of festae to adulthood and spawning them is one of the most rewarding things and not at all easy ). For the looks of course, few other cichlids can compare to the coloration and appearance of a healthy and high quality specimen. Great personality too, and many can also kept in community settings too, depending on the tank size and type of tank mates.

Regarding Umbees, they're big, beautiful, aggressive, and have awesome personalities. What's not to like??
