my RTCxTSN is an attention hog. one day he was at his end of the pond minding his own business. i was massing with a heater, when out of no where, he thinks i got food and shoots 9 feet across the pond in like 1 second while the depth was low in mid water change. scared the crap outta me. water went everywhere. it was cool though.

Thats pretty funny. Good stories guys.

Oh I forgot this one time I was at the LF looking at this shy Clown Grouper I think it is called. He is hiding behind something and I lean in to get a better look and the thing charged the glass and I laughed my head off. it was a funny looking fish and then he tried to chace me away.

i've got acrylic sheet instaed of cover glass on the 5ft with my loiselle in it. its drilled for gas exchange, and a larger hole is drilled for feeding... i went away for the weekend recently, and obviously couldnt feed them for two days... upon my return, when i attempted to drop the pellets thru the hole, the male (approx 9"), torpedoed up from the bottom, hitting the acrylic so hard he lifted it clear of the tank, if my hand had not been in the way, both the acrylic and the fish would have been on the floor... never seen him move like that, scared the s**t out of me!! (well made me jump anyway)..;-)

^Ditto on the 14" Festae. I've never seen one that big. Pics Please! Anyway, on with the thread. I had a Jag that would charge at my hand during feeding. He would always be in the open. But during feeding he would hide behind the decor for just the right moment to attack my fingers holding the food. He didn't want to bite me or at least I don't think he did. I think it was the thrill of the hunt for him.

My 13'' oscar got me one time and drew blood. I have to keep my eye on him while doing water changes, because he will bite if given the chance. He pulled my syphon out of my hands one time. I wasn't expecting him to attack at the time, so I didn't have a good grip on the syphon.

I was netting out my big midas hybrid and it flapped so hard it went out of the net and fell to the ground.
I tried picking it up and just as i grabbed it it flapped around some more and bit my finger, and wouldn't let go. I carried it to the tank it was going in with the one finger in it's mouth. After that i took precations and always use 2 nets for all my fish :)

I was doing a water change and scooping out poo at the same time. I dropped the net into the tank and without thinking I shoved my hand in after it. I felt a bite all the way around the second knuckle of my ring finger on my right hand. I look to see my 10" Albino Tiger Oscar was trying to eat my finger. I yanked back, he let go, and I cursed.

Right now My 9" male cuban is the one I have to watch. He is always ready to get Me when i clean His corner of the tank.I've been tagged by several over the yrs but Midas seem to be the worst.I've had them bring blood as small as 4".

My festivums like to pull out the hair on my arms when I'm doing water changes. :( Sometimes it catches me off guard. That hurts like you wouldn't believe.

It wasn't my fish, but a few months ago I went with a friend to a cichlid dealer near me to check out his stock. He kept most of his fish in cement vats in greenhouses. We joked that there could be monsters lurking in the vats because the water was dark and most were covered with floating plants. I put my hand over one of the vats to point out something to my friend, and a giant orange cichlid (I'm assuming a Midas) came out of nowhere and bit the hell out of my index finger. It felt like a bunch of needles stabbing into me. We had a good laugh.
