A fuel cut based on boost is unusual to me. Typically in Nissans they are based on RPM. Hard cuts are hard on your engine anyways so I had mine removed and now there is no limit :D

Thats a damn good SMIC and I love version 2 S14s ..Mmhmm sexy :D

i dunno the exact facts behind the factory toyota fuel cut...I did have an extra HKS fuel cut installed. I think the factory fuel cut goes off of A/F ratio tho...as soon as it runs lean it cuts the fuel...from factory mr2 turbo run pig rich to prevent this and upping the boost didn't change that.

Meh its an alrite side-mount....most mr2's with under 300rwhp run them, since they fit in the stock location. if you convert to trunk mount without a big enough turbo you will have insane lag...and front mounts are just redundant on mid-engine cars..LOL

It wouldnt make any sense to do a fuel cut if it runs lean. That would be very harmful to the engine if it did that a few times.

I dont want to keep this thread off topic much longer, is there a car thread somewhere for people like us car nuts?

I don't think theres a thread like that on here LOL....and why wouldn't that make sense? thats what creates knock or detonation, i thought the absents of fuel is what burns the cylinder walls right?

Typically it would cause damage the piston face or head and cause damage to the rings more so than the cylinder walls. It doesnt make sense because if the O2 sensor is reading lean enough to cause a cut
(not likely), it would be more likely to need a soft cut(ignition) as to not cause an even hotter or leaner enviroment. A fraction of a second is all it takes. Detonation isnt so much the issue in what I was trying to say. Its more that if you already had a lean enviroment the ECU wouldnt want to or shouldnt want to cut fuel atleast by typical design in most cars I have experiences with. I do realize that it would take a good number of fuel cuts to cause real damage and it would have to be repeated possibly many times to do more than burn some oil and cause scoring. If a fuel cut was repeated the same amount of times but cause by an already lean condition in cylinders, the likelyhood of real damage is much larger

My understanding of it and my basic knowledge of tuning but I think you already knew all of that..

I race toy cars with other grown men that play with toy cars. I started doing this after two knee surgeries gone bad that took me away from my passion which was racing road and mountain bikes.

It's amazing how addicting rc cars can be. It gets very expensive as well, spent around $6,000 in the past six months. :( I also enjoy painting the bodies, I'm doing my best to learn to use an airbrush.

I under you feeling. i can never stop upgrading mine

Percussion is somthing i do every hour atleast. i also race rc cars. fish bass fishing tournys. and im a huge movie buff
