What PH do you keep your fish in?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine Ph is 7.6 - 7.8 and i learned that it's best not to try to change it, unless there are issues with your fishes.

8.3 for my africans. have to work at keeping it there though.

7.0 for my other 2 freshwater tanks. they have a tendency to turn acidic though. alot of driftwood in them

Mine is somewhat high, but it stays the same and I have no problems with it. It is at 8.2.

I only mess with it for specialty fish or for special projects.

Most fish are very capable of adjusting to higher or lower pH. Most fish now days are bred on commercial farms, so they are used to anything but what their natural habitat is. I keep my freshwater tank at about 8.3 (That's what it is right out of the tap.) Of course I should be getting an RO filter soon, so that will help out too. I've kept oscars and jack dempseys in my alkaline water and they did great. Just acclimate them correctly and I'm sure you could keep some of the larger cichlids and things like that, no problem.
