What plecos are you keeping?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What I can remember that I have right now (but am pretty sure there are others):
Size includes tail, but not streamer...
1x7" Adonis
several snowballs (I think two different types)
1x16" giant Royal
4x 4-6.5" gold nuggets (three different spot patterns and growth rates)
3x 5-6.5" green phantoms
2x 4.5-6.5" leopard catus
3x 3" rubber lips
2x 9-10" gibbies
1x 3+" queen arabesque
1x8" L418 (shampupa pleco)
2x 3" L333
1-2x 2" black and white striped pleco that I'm not sure their ID

Plecos I've lost:
Lost a bunch to a breaker tripped in the middle of the night (most likely by the new neighbor downstairs who we are pretty sure we paid for his electricity. 675 sq ft apt with $300 a month electric bill:WHOA::screwy:) I have pics of everything btw.

1x 5" sultan
1x 7" Loricaria parnahybae (I know very rare, but I did my homework before deciding this was them)
1x 5.5" Pseudolithoxus anthrax
1x 12" whiptail. probably L010, but this guy was huge
2 farowellas

And then last month or so, I lost my 13.5" L014. I miss Frankie. He just was going down hill for the last 6 months of him life. I think between being old and having the temp getting a bit too high was too much for him. :(

You'll have to give me a few minutes given that the pics are spread over 3 computers... Time to consolidate.

I dont have any plecs currently but I am really feeling the blue panaque ;).

Okay, so here's some photos for you. A lot of these photos were taken by my husband (SoCalDiscus), and I have to give him credit for insane amounts of patience to capture some of these shy guys.

Sultan Pleco. When I lost this guy to the breaker going out in the middle of the night when most of our stuff was off really upset me. I'm still bummed about this guy.

And then of course my Frankie, an L014. He died a little over a month ago to an unknown cause. However, at 13.5" it very well could have just been old age. He had been going down hill for several months, and nothing I did helped. But, still, he was great to have, and he was a great giant pleco to have with our discus. He was so chill, but monster all at the same time. He's about 12" in these photos.

And Frankie posing for a picture that eventually won POTY on AquariaCentral.com. (Congratulations to my hubby!)

Okay that's all for now. I've got to get back to things.... :)

Oh wow, beautiful setup (the discus w/ the L-14).

What exactly happened with the breaker going out overnight? What caused the wipeout I mean...no power for an extended period? Tank get too cold w/o heater running?
