Sorry about your L-14 you said you think the temp was too much for it...how high did the temp get?

Thanks, and I'll try to get pictures of him when he was alive later. As for the L014, he lived for a year and a half with us in the discus tank. It was around 83-84. He did aweosme in that temp. After a while however we moved and had a tank break on us. He and all the discus were moved into a sump that usually held at 80. This summer it got up to 85. There was temp fluctuations of about 5 degrees within a week. I can't really imagine that was the only problem. I believe that he was pretty old, and wasn't handling the changes well. He had been dewormed and given metronidazole in his food, but was still losing weight over a period of about 6 months. Then when the temp fluctuated, he died. I really want another Goldie, as he was such an impressive fish that was so cool with others.

Oh wow, beautiful setup (the discus w/ the L-14).

What exactly happened with the breaker going out overnight? What caused the wipeout I mean...no power for an extended period? Tank get too cold w/o heater running?

So you know the wall socket breakers? One of those flipped in my kitchen in the middle of the night with nothing plugged into it. It killed the circuit that was running the air pump and the filters (nothing heavy duty that could have caused this and it had been up and running for 8 months). The fish just flat ran out of oxygen. I was devastated. I lost a lot of fish in that 55 that are not listed here. Ultimately, it killed about $1,000 worth of fish that are very difficult to even find. Invest in a battery powered backup air pump to run your sponge filters. I have since bought one that cost me $55, and had I know they existed and had one before this, it would have saved everyone. Lesson learned the hard way for me. Don't let this happen to you.

@ Wet Whiskers I know what its like I had a similar thing happen about 2 years back. Lost a L191 and a large rhino. sorry for your loss. Your L418 is stunning BTW!

Thanks. I'm very proud to own an L418. As far as I know, they still are not classified, and don't have a scientific name.

Cool. That's what I have it labeled as that over at planetcatfish, but have never asked for opinions to get my thought backed up. I was hoping someone would shoot out a suggestion, to see if I was right. Sounds like that's a confirmation. Thank you.

Lost a bunch to a breaker tripped in the middle of the night (most likely by the new neighbor downstairs who we are pretty sure we paid for his electricity. 675 sq ft apt with $300 a month electric bill) I have pics of everything btw.

1x 7" Loricaria parnahybae (I know very rare, but I did my homework before deciding this was them)
1x 5.5" Pseudolithoxus anthrax
1x 12" whiptail. probably L010, but this guy was huge

And then last month or so, I lost my 13.5" L014. I miss Frankie. He just was going down hill for the last 6 months of him life. I think between being old and having the temp getting a bit too high was too much for him.

Yeah, I had a fully stocked, but healthy and balanced, tank, but the plecos that lived in cooler temps and thus usually demand higher O2 died. Then that started a chain reaction as the water quality started fouling.

So, let's see some pics of your fishies!
