I agree that people do stereotype pitbulls but it has been proven that pitbulls generally have a more aggressive demeanor compared to other breeds. Combine that with jaws that can bring x amount of pressure psi and you got yourself a pretty good combination. All dogs can be trained to be docile and all that but like all animals including us, instinct can always immediately kick in so demeanor does matter.

Am I the only one that thinks the cropped ears make them look ugly?
Don't get me wrong, he's a good looking dog, but I'm not a fan of ear cropping, especially THAT short. Some breeds it looks ok on, but I don't think it ever looks good when there's nothing left but little nubs.

I , on the other hand, love cropped ears where they belong....acc to the standard..and cropped tails also....
cropped ears is an un-necessary comsmetic procedure unless you're actually showing or working the dog... actually, in some countries it's even illegal to have a dogs ears cropped or tail docked. My Glen terrier was bred overseas, the breed standard in the US is to have the tail docked, he still has his tail and I think he looks cuter with it.
While I see that in some cases it is necessary (heavy tailed working breeds in particular), most cases it's just a matter of what WE want the dog to look like... and in pit bulls its to make them look more badass (or in the case of dogs that are used for fighting, to prevent excess injury from having ears/tails ripped off)

They get cropped per breed standard or should be if your vet knows what they're doing. IE there's a special crop for great danes, one for boxers, one for pits, etc. It's not just chopping..
Cropping ears also helps prevent ear infections as opposed to floppy eared dogs. All of these traits were done back when the dog had a purpose. The dog doesn't serve the same purpose but we still want to own them so why is cropping ears wrong. I say it isn't as long as it's done humanly with a vet who puts the dog under but eurpoeans are heavily against it along with tail docking. Honestly the pain is/should be no worse than when you get them neutered/spayed.
It's getting harder and harder to find vets that will do this practice, you could call 20 vets and maybe.. maybe 1 that will actually do it and has the experiance to do it.. if you get lucky.
But I have seen on animal planet cops where two young city kids cut their pits ears off with scissors because they thought they were gonna grow him into a fighting dog.. and that was just wrong.. really wanted to beat their ass even though they were just kids...
Keep in mind though that we only have these breeds of dogs because we designed them for what we wanted to look like... They're not naturally occuring.. All are wolves in sheeps clothing. And when they were being created breeders even gave some breeds like english bull dog diseases to get them to the look they wanted..
Sorry for the rant.. great looking dog.. very handsome.. hope you can adopt him.

im not even going to read all this, im just going to say cutting dogs ears or tails is insane! It is like cutting off your ankle because it looks cool! history proves people are insane. I mean, Thomas Jefferson liked watching roosters kill each other. Dogs live outside in extreme painfully hot, cold or wet weather and we raise cows in cages for food. We are sending people to other planets because we ruined this one fast. We dumped tires in our ocean and dig holes in mountains to bury nuclear waste. If a camel, dog, cat, or horse is born its a slave to humans. And then we cut their limbs off.
