What scares your fish the most?

My fish have very vivid imaginations. There is absolutely nothing in the tank...it's bare bottom, undecorated, yet they manage to spook themselves and freak out running away from some imagined predator. They only come to their senses when they slam into a tank wall or a tank lid. They hit so hard, they usually have a cut or scrape somewhere. They hit with such a loud bang, I used to run to check on them and the tank. Good thing it's an acrylic tank. They hit the lids so hard, they have splashed water 6' away on the living room windows.

Anyone that walks in front of tank. Unfortunatly the side of the tank is exposed to the hall way. They must think Im coming in to clean lol. Super annoying.

my fish fear my 5 year old :wall::nono:

Depends on the fish. I have a large female oranda (fancy goldfish) who loves the big blue net because it means she's being fed. She learned not to fear the net or my hands because it means she's getting special attention. I had to feed her medicated food due to a bacterial infection when my tank's temp dropped and the nitrifying bacteria slowed down = ammonia not being removed at the rate it needed to be.

My angelfish are scared to death of the net, they will lay flat on their sides to dive under the net!

For the Pacu, it's when anyone walks quickly into the room. Then she freaks out. Also the net... she's twice as big as it now, but if I place it on the tank's lid she'll kinda lie sideways against a corner staring at it with one eye. I think she still remembers it (she could still fit into it two years ago).

I remember you have those huge Pacus. Mine does the same thing. Whenever she gets spooked she bangs super hard all over the place, and splashes so much water. I still have a glass tank, and my heart stops for a few seconds when I hear here banging around (especially when she hits the lids and they bounce). Sometimes, whenever she's doing her little "yay i'm getting fed" dance, she'll flick water out of the tank with her tail through a small opening I can't close (because the sump's return tube is there).

my piranhas are scared of everything, especially movement in the living room when you're wearing bright colors. i use to think they sensed fear from the gf but now i think it's the colors she wears
