What scares your fish the most?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My bowfin goes berserk when my dog walks up and looks at him.

Any large object freaks out my community tank with an angelfish and a jurupari. They both just disappear into the plants so fast you wonder if they were there at all.

My Oscar goes BERSERK at the sight of water bottles, the metal or plastic kind. Especially if they are held sideways to resemble...a fish? I don't know why. It can be any color or material and I don't know how he keeps a catalog of what is and isn't a water bottle, but it's totally real. I can hold up similar things like vases, shoes and such, it just doesn't do the same thing as a water bottle. I don't do this on a regular basis, but the day we discovered it we were trying to comprehend why he was scared of them. We could ascertain nothing useful from our efforts so we gave up.

I put my lights on timers and my fish don't get scared by it anymore. I think their internal clocks are ready for it when it's consistent.

Amazing!

i'd have to say my cichlids always seem to spook when I enter the room. At least for a little while. Then they settle in and come out of their little nooks. That goes for my americans and my africans.

My Marble Angel is the bully of the tank, and it's resident undertaker - any fish that gets injured (occasionaly fin nipping Danio is usually the cause of injury) is despatched in double quick time, but he will follow my every move and comes up to the glass whenever I'm near. Only time I've seen him afraid was when I was up close to the glass and I yawned, thought he was gonna go right through the back of the tank, and wouldn't come near the front again for ages.

Mine hate when I clean the front of the tank with glass cleaner.
