So i was debating on which system I should get.

New xbox 360

Pros
~Almost all my family and friends have an xbox 360 so I can play with them.
~I have more than 20 xbox 360 games.
~I feel the xbox 360 has a better online experience.

Cons
~I will have to worry about the red ring of BS!
~Have to pay a monthly/yearly fee for xbox live.

Play Station 3

Pros
~Wont really have to worry about the game console breaking.
~Free online.
~Can surf the net.
~Blue Ray!

Cons
~I dont own any PS3 games and dont want to spend another butt load of money on games.
~Very few of my friends have a PS3.

So what do you guys think?

Ok lets get this straight, IF you get a new Xbox, not a used one but a NEW one it has a significantly less chance of Red Rings. Plus they have fixed the problem with the new model. It only happens when idiots put it in a cubby and it overheats because of poor circulation. I have had 2 PS3s break on me before my Xbox did. I have never had a Red Ring, only disc drive failure but that was after me constantly using it for 3 years. Xbox has better online interactions but you have to pay for it. I hated playing online on my PS3 because it was always laggy and you couldn't really talk or play with friends. Blu-rays nice but nothing significant.

It all comes down to if you want to play more single player or online game/interactions. If you want the single player experience go with PS3 and if you want the online experience go with Xbox.

ps3 all the way
i have tons of friends who are big game nerds and they have both and they say they prefer ps3 over there xbox
so i listened to there advice and i am super happy
call of duty online everyday
im on netflix everynight on my ps3 also wathing movies in blue ray
not to mention ps3 games are on blue ray and some 1080p which makes graphics look so awesome

BUT
lets not forget for all this fancy stuff the ps3 offers you cant take advantage of unless your tv is 1080p and u have a HDMI cable
which u can by online for 5 bucks
yet again awesome

PS3. hands down. I don't know what chrisplosion means by "single player=ps3, multiplayer=xbox" because most of the games that are out are on both systems anyway. What it comes down to is what the system can do. What's the High Def movie feature called on the xBox? Oh right, they don't have one haha. Also, I don't like paying any more money than I have to. A yearly fee for online isn't worth it for online play when the two systems online support is nearly identical. Both systems are comparable in price out of the box but you don't keep paying for ps3 just to use it. /rant

I am saying that the online services on the PS3 are garbage. Wow you can put a disc in and play a movie at 1080p, I can hit the play button and steam it instantly without a disc at 1080p...I win:headbang2

For your situation I would recommend the xbox. The newer ones don't have the ROD issues anymore and as you said your friends are on xbox, and you have more xbox games. PS3 online won't be much fun if none of your friends are on IMO. Plus the extra cost of games.
I have an XBOX 360 and I love it. I know PS3 has blue ray but that's never been worth it to me. I can use netflix on Xbox and I like the games.

This. Personally, I would go with PS3 because I like single-player games more than online play, and also because most of my favorite games are on PS3. But it sounds to me like an Xbox 360 is what you would prefer OP.

Have both, if i had to go with one, i'd go with the Xbox 360. As mentioned, the red ring of death was a problem because they rushed the original consoles to beat out their competitors. It's basically a non issue unless you have it in a cubby or your house is hot (when it gets 100 here, i can't play mine).

Xbox has a much bigger video game library.

netflix is only for movies that you can "instantly watch now", the same exact ones that are already available on your computer. Meaning, you don't have the full library section and rarely are their new releases and when they are...they've been out on video 45+ days already. however, it is great for TV episodes. Also, movies on netflix come and go as they please. you might watch something and go to watch it again or finish it 2 days later and it's no longer available to view.

honestly, you can't lose with either one so happy gamin
