don't put aggressive cichlids with the oscar even if they are smaller, my 3.5" texas beats the **** out of my 6" oscar and they've been together since they were both about 1"
No more fish until you get the bigger tank, but I have my 9" Albino with a 7" Green Severum and a pair of 5" Aequidens Tetramerus and everything is fine.Regular water changes and good filtration are a must for messy buggers like Oscars though. Good luck,
Mister Malcontent.
I've been told Plecos and anyother type of catfish that are about the same size will work...the guy at my LFS has an electric catfish that pretty timid that i been thinking bout getting
I think a pleco is always a good idea with an oscar, but as mentioned, i feel a gold severum would go a treat with your albino oscar as both (in theory) have a similar personalities (but all fish are different)
If you can get your hands on a Jack Dempsey, especially the electric blue strain (which look much much better), they are perfect tankmates for oscars. My electric blue is very calm, and so are the oscars. As mentionned anything too agressive and the oscars will be constantly bullied. Contrary to popular belief, they are not at all agressive, only eat like pigs
Therefore, anything that fits in they mouths is out of question...
Good luck with the oscar, they are great you'll love it !
