Once you have the 100g...

If you can get your hands on a Jack Dempsey, especially the electric blue strain (which look much much better), they are perfect tankmates for oscars. My electric blue is very calm, and so are the oscars. As mentionned anything too agressive and the oscars will be constantly bullied. Contrary to popular belief, they are not at all agressive, only eat like pigs :)

Therefore, anything that fits in they mouths is out of question...

Good luck with the oscar, they are great you'll love it !

My Oscar charges my flowerhorn but a tank divider stops him. I know my 120 is a recipe for disaster.

Hiya and welcome DJ nitrous, I would hesitate to put in an electric cat, even timid ones have a rep for killing everything in the tank some fine night.

he's had some feeders in the tank for him to eat for about a week now but he'll only eat pellets..iono....ill keep yall updated on what happens

You should cease the feeding of feeder fish imediately. They are disease carriers and could easily introduce a disease to your Oscar.
They have little to no nutritional value and are a big risk to use.

He should be fed pellets along with a variety of other foods like crickets, beefheart, freeze dried shrimp etc.
But no feeder fish.

As tank mates in the 100 gallon you could try some silver dollars, a firemouth, convict, maybe even 2 or 3 Tinfoil Barbs.
(not all together)

I have 2 Oscars, a Jack Dempsey and 3 Tinfoil Barbs and they all do quite well in my 125 gallon.

I've been told Plecos and anyother type of catfish that are about the same size will work...the guy at my LFS has an electric catfish that pretty timid that i been thinking bout getting

Leave the electric catfish alone have had problems with these ugly things!!!!!!!killed a snake head 3 times its size and a gobie twice its size :swear:

uarus are great. very placid sseverums are good too although they grow at a slower rate. most geophagus seem to do well too. of course another oscar and im experimanting with dither fish at the moment and although they are africans they seem to do really well. ive had success with tin foils, mozambique tilapia and believe it or not yellow labs are brilliant especially for eating all that the oscar drops around the tank. and too fast to get nipped

For some strange reason red tail sharks seem to work well with oscars.theyll harass to death peaceful fish and get killed by agressive fish, but for some reason oscars seem to ignore them
