  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just make sure you don't skimp on proper filtration and heater and your oscars and other fish should live long healthy lives I made the mistake of using an old heater for my oscars and it went out lastnight and today they have ick .... they are being treated and should recover ...didn't mean to hi jack your thread just wanted you to learn from my mistake ...

read the whole thread, one guy said 300g, the rest of us said 125g in that situation. play the odds. 10-15 mfkers who have been keeping fish ranging from 7 years all the way up to 25yrs all agree 125 is a good size for the setup in that thread.

one trolls says otherwise.

what are the odds that he's right and we're all wrong?

Aha that makes more sense... Thanks!

You learn real quick not to listen to the guy at your local petstore.

I am really confused as to how all of these fishes can fit in 125g while 1 oscar + 2 JD needs 300g?

Are JDs that much more aggressive than the line-up you see in this thread?

No matter where you seek advise, there will be idiots. Unfortunately there are a fair share here on MFK.:( You just have to get as much info as possible and weed out that which is not valid.

so the guy at my local petstore said the general rule is one gallon per inch of fish is this just a terrible rule of thumb or what because what im reading is it is...

That only works with fish like livebearers or small tetras. It doesn't work with larger fish.
