What size was your 1st tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
10 gallon was my first " fish tank". before that it was gallon pickle jar filled with tadpoles from the pond, a brown plastic bucket type thing for salamanders.. ect... i was always sticking things in jars or buckets... or pockets. my mom tried so hard to get me into dresses and cute shoes. instead i wore jeans and caught snakes and terrorized my male cousins with frogs ect..

First tank was 240 gal w/ congo tetras, tiger barbs, redtail sharks, neon tetras, also 3 koi ponds dont know gals but they were around 30' x 20' my grandfather owned a pet / market store and bred koi he would go to Japan every year for the big koi shows and pick up some expensive fish his koi ponds were the best my own personal swimming pools and fishing ponds he stocked one of the ponds with large mouth bass and pbass channel cats just so I could fish (barb less hooks ) catch and release those were the days.

A 75 gallon with 2 oscars 2 jack dempseys a huge like 12" goldfish out of my friends swimming pool (yea it was a huge pool that no one wanted to maintain so we threw everything we caught into it lol) 4 convicts a goby, a bluegill and a snakehead... All the cichlids except the oscars started spawning and the snakehead killed everything... This was like 2000 had it up for like 2 years and did about 10 wc altogether lol

lol, as a kid, I chased my mom around with toads and snakes. Good times! I'm told my brother played with my dolls and I played with his tractors.

10 gallon was my first tank with platies, swords etc. Lol Kelly, you sound like me - I used to play with Tonka dump trucks and bury dolls in the mud that people tried to buy me.

Good of you to return the critters to their home at a young age.Did you do that on your own or did someone instruct you to do so?
I was operating from murderers guilt about the turtle drying out on last summers' forgotten shelf ;-)
Salamanders were safer one day at a time. Lol. returning them allowed me to sleep at night.
I had the whole area mapped out. rofl.
mom was just perplexed by her "little girl?". couldn't relate. no advice.

5gal marineland bio wheel all in one, had it in my dorm, had a catfish, pleco, bala shark and iridecent. Lmao and the fish actually did awesome, had em for 6 months and no casualties, although I barely fed them.
