The genus is Australoheros, but Im not sure of the sp.

Agreed. Seems to be one of the chanchitos but they all show similiar stress patterning.

He is not really stressed, he is the dominent cichlid in the tank, I haxe never seen him lighten up.

If it's the dominant one, I'd expect to be seeing the blue and red of Oblongum. Do you have any others in the tank in differant coloration? I'd be leaning towards facetus atm ... 'local' has the same pattern, but bright red eyes. Hopefully Ken or Felipe will see the thread though.

i bought 3 similar fish marked as rainbow cichlids.... but yours may be a convict x rainbow.... just a guess...
