What species Tarantula is this (w pic)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm currently working with 14 P. Metallica, pictures do not do them justice.
Thats outrageous. I couldn't afford one of those things when they were first available. First time I seen them they were all over $300. Have things changed yet?

 Awesome Tarantula. Is their a common name? :shark:

Their common name is "Gooty Saphire Ornamental". From Gooty India on a protected site.
I just personally bought one on the 10th of this month. It's only 1.5 inches and is blue already. It is now in pemolt and should become even more blue.:D They are absolutly stunning in person.

all your talk on this critter's venom is getting to me.....

is the blue one also quite toxic? would prefer the bulkier varieties though

i would not say that any tarantula has toxic venom. what it lacks in bulk it makes up with it's stilt-like blue legs accented with orange hairs.

another stunning tarantula is the Singapore Blue, Cyriopagopus sp. "blue". i myself have a sling of one, about 1 inch.

Yes I have one as well. It is now around 3.5 - 4 inches and still no blue. I heard they color-up at around 5 inches or so. I cant wait to see the blue:D

Don't fool yourself, the Poecilotheria genus has medically significant venom.
Although it is rarely studied, there are anectdotal reports of respiratory depression, paralysis, and permanent nerve-damage.

THESE SPIDERS CAN MESS YOU UP

additional toxic species include most called baboon, especially king baboon.

I have worked with over 50 species and have seen the results of these specific tarantulas on mammals several times.
