What tank size do i need for this stocking?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Keyhole, cupido, guinanacara gaeyi, rainbow cichlid. Would be decent choices.
Personally, if you are definitely going 3x2x2, I'd replace the severum with something like the gaeyi. Just thinking a 10" sev would look a little out of scale in a 3' tank.
If you can, I'd go for the 4' tank.

the previous Rotkeils i had never got past 8" so i think it will be fine, i think it would look good with a big sev and some smaller ones, i like the almost cube like look of a 3ftx2fx2ft tank.

i have a threadfin acara that gets along well with my sevs. beautiful, fun fish and about the perfect size for your tank. many of the smaller cichlids that swami suggested would work great too.

In addition to Swami's suggestions, B. wavrini, Geophagus 'Tapajos', Honduran red points, blue and port acaras, Laetacara, dwarf Crenichla sp.

Thorichthys sp (eg firemouth) are more likely to work than a Salvini if you like the look.

The fish I listed are all cichlids. Most small SA cichlids would work with those type of fish, I would pick 2 more 2-5" max cichlids and do them.
I have kept Heckelii, I actually found my male to be pretty aggressive, I might worry about mixing a male with other similar looking cichlids in a 3' tank. Just my .02

Yeh i know i was replying to the previous post there i saw yours.

Red Head Tapajos would be good, how many with a sev and a EBA?

Geos tend to do better in groups of 5-6, I would say your tank with the other fish doesn't have room for a whole group of that size. It's possible to keep less than that number group, but the fish won't like it as much.
Maybe bolivian rams instead? you could have a nice sized group in there and they would enjoy being together.
1 sev, 6-7 bolivian rams, some cories, and the dithers, sounds like it would be a nice tank to me.
