I would like to start an african rift lake tank. Lots of dark rocks, dark blue or black back ground, sand, lots of action.. Dont necessarily like overstocked tanks but if i have to i will (and filter the :nilly: out of it).

I like larger tanks but i dont expect my wife to accept anything longer than 48". This would put me in the 55G, 75G or 90G for the "longs". I do like the look of some tall's, which would also allow for some awesome rock formations..

I'm just playing with the thought here.. I am impulsive with my thoughts but like to think and plan this stuff through before i do anything.

What tank size/shape is realistic (starting with the smallest, but >50G i guess) for a rift lake tank and with what (very colorful) species?

Thanks!

Try for a 5 foot tank!! Or just buy a 125 and say it's a 4 foot tank. Lol seems a little larger to me honey. Well they said it was 4 feet and 90 gallons.

Why not a 110 tall? 48"x18"x32(ish)"

That's what my Africian tank is, they use the entire water column and the extra height allows for some nice rock formations to allow plenty of hiding spots and territories to claim.
