WHAT THE F@#%

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have been doing 75% changes every 2-3 days so the build up and ph drop and increase i dont think is the case for this one...

true.

were you having trouble keeping parameters in check? just curious why such a big change 2x per week.

was the temperature off much between the new water and the in tank existing water?

when I used to do large water changes on multitank systems while I worked at the LFS, sometimes when we would use water that was too warm, all the fish would tend to hang at the top for a bit following the change (not good I know lol).

probably hanging because of an O2 problem given that warmer water doesn't hold as much oxygen..

perhaps it could have been something like this?

the water was 80f the same as the tank...i thought the same but on the colder side of the fence...after it crashed i did daily 75% wc then stepped it back but i did them more frequint because i am getting a fx5 filter ariving to my house tomarrow, finally, and i didn't want to risk it crashing again and loseing any more fish....lot of good that did....but with the new filter added i will have a total of 1400gph on the tank so i will cut it back to 75% 1-2 times a week...like i did before the crash

I'm curious why you needed to do such huge changes...something must have been seriously wrong with the filter/stocking/feeding.

thats the size changes i have always done...at the same time the tank crashed i for got to clean my filter with tank water...i used the sprayer...i was waitng till i had the money to buy a fx5 to add to the tank because i was a little low at 775gph for a 180gal with a stocking list of 1-15" silver aro, 1-10" gar, 8-5"-6" tinfoils, 1-13" pleco, 1-5" rtc, 1-12" rtcxtsn, 1-10" jd....needed more filtration...now tank has 1-15" silver aro, 1-10" gar, 1-10" jd, 1-13" pleco, 1-4" yellow bullhead...i get the fx5 today as soon as fed-ex get here...after my tsns get bigger 3-9" tsns will go in...with the addition of the fx5 i will have around 1400gph...

the tank crashed due to my roomates feeding my fish for a weekend when i was gone after i told them not to tuch the tanks...i feed everyone big meals to hold over for the weekend...i didn't know they did this until after i cleaned the filter with the sprayer....

was there any stress issues with the fish fighting or anything like that .. that could also have something to do with the barbs being more sensitive then the arowana ...

but then again .. i guess you dont want my opinion since YOU DONT CARE!!!

figure it out on your own ..

if you can't read or understand properly....i said i dont care if you LIKE or DISLIKE caps...people use diff colors some are harder to read then others...i have not seen you cry about them...deal with it...when you grow up maybe you can play with the big boys until then don't cry...they were not fighting so the fighting/stress i don't think is the case...

Ifratt you should give the guy a breakman, he just lost some prize fish for an unknown reason. I think caps is ok in a situation like that.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss man. Try to keep chin up and move forward. I don't like to even do 50% WC for fear of things like this. hen I do big maint. I am always freeked out for about 24 hours. I stick with Prime.
Once again I am very sorry for your loss. I hope I never have to go through it.

Do you normally do a 75% WC? Its possible you gotta mini cycle or something goin on, and being as you had such large fish in that tank, might have been too much to handle?

How are the other fish doing? Did you only loose the tins?

That seriously bites mate, loosing fish sucks. Especially when you have to sit back and watch them die, and there is nothing you can do to fix it. :(
