What the heck is this?

It seems unusual to be able to catch so many of these. Apparently, they are an invasive species from Asia. You can identify them through their tail, snout, lack of fins, and v-shaped gill slit, all of which differentiate it visually considerably fom the American Eel.

Again, where did you catch it? Can you please ask your friend? I am very interested. Sites say that they are found in the south but not typically in the north.
 
Otherwise known as Monopterus albus. An invasive species that has established itself in Georgia, Florida & is moving north. Also outlawed in many states. They grow to 3 feet , can live days out of water, and are mean as hell. A true Monster Fish, Google & see all the alerts!!!!!

Well they are extremely adaptable and resistant (like most invasive species) so you probably won't have too much trouble keeping your new little buddy alive! ;)
 
thats a yellow eel. supposed to be found here in the tropics......mostly in asia.....
