So i go to petsmart today to pick up a new powerhead and some crickets for my scorpion when i see they got some new types of fish. Then i see that they are selling baby clown knifes for $7 i was like what the hell. I like the ck because they arent seen to often around my towns lfs. Petsmart should not be selling this fish

Why not? Did I miss something?

I see a lot of these threads and normally grumble to myself as to why it was originally posted, although the OP (and you) normally have a good point. Today instead of grumbling, I pondered for a bit and thought and came to this conclusion: Some people actually have tanks large enough to house a clown knife. I know there are plenty of "MFKers" that shop at petsmart or petco that have large tanks. Sure, a large percentage of the hobbyists do not have the proper requirements to house ck, pacus and other fish, but it does not mean that Petsmart or Petco have any less validation for selling these fish than the "LFS" have.

well to me the 2 fish they shouldnt sell are the pacu and now the ck. Ck's arent real easy to get in albany even thought they arent pricey. I bought my ck because u dont see them all the time here. But to make it worse the tag said it needs a 175 gallon tank which would be ok for a ck if it stops growing at 18 inches but the girl working there said that the slip isnt minimum size. she said i could get away with a 75-90 gallon. I said i dont know about that. I told her i had one and that he's in a 75 and i have a 150 for when hes bigger but i was also saving a 250+ gallon tank for the future. She said well they dont need that big. I said that there are many ck's in tanks that are almost 3 feet but thats rare. She said thanks for the info, i told her to explain that when ppl wanted to buy one

Valid point, but like I said, there are plenty of people out there that have the means to house them correctly. You are not the one who dictates what Petsmart sells, and neither am I, but there is a market for them and that is why they are being sold.

i agree they can sell what they want. i was just mad that she said a full grown one could live in a 75-90 gallon
